Perspective
Perspective: Part magic, part math. The moon is the brightest orb in the sky with the contrast of the dark night. Living on Kauai has taught me the power of intention and connection, physically, metaphorically, and spiritually.
In Bloom
In Bloom started with two intersecting circles and a grid that came using a compass and ruler. I carried this painting with me to every studio and home I lived in for 2 nomadic years on Kauai. The image feels to me like the moment that you realize a dream or idea is about to take off into success. A dream in bloom.
Mintificent
Mints are vigorous pereinnnials that grow and spread wildly. This image came to me on the canvas with a circle, a grid, and a piece of mint from the back yard on Kauai. The image grew and layered over time, organically and effortlessly.
Cane
Cane spiders are a fairly large spider and this one came into my art studio one afternoon to linger on my counter top. I decided to leave her alone for a moment and eventually she crawled into an empty glass! She was gripping tight to her baby sac and it occured to me that she had not only saved herself and babies, but she had saved me a lot of greif! I carried her away to the barn outside and that night I drew from the inspiration.
A spider is the mother of creation, a weaver of her own destiny.
Banana Heart
This simple mandala design came from the first banana tree I ever saw growing in my 3rd back yard of life on the island. The banana blossoms are also known as a banana heart.
Orange Crescent
Kauai creates a home full of eclipses and overlapping connections with relationships.
Cathedrals
This painting is from a snap shot of a view from the Kalalau Trail, so it is three times removed from the real thing. It's a memory and a time piece painted for a friend with a big heart and ambition to be admired.
Space
I draw and paint in layers. Space can be up and down and all around. Just look!
