Watercolor still life's 2011-2020
I paint from life, the foods from my fridge and flowers from my yard. It is a practice I started as a traveling yoga teacher when I needed to pack light and leave a minimal footprint. The kitchen counter served as my studio and I've never eaten healthier! I go back to simple still life every once in a while to keep my mind on color and focus. Perhaps it's just that I love natural food.
Plastic Art for "Washed Up" 2019 & 2020
I started collecting plastic from the sand on the beaches of Kauai in the spring of 2019 to create art pieces for a group show called "Washed Up". It was a collaboration between Kauai Society of Artists and Surfrider Foundation to build awareness. This show for me was incredibly eye-opening and life changing as it touched my heart and opened so many more conversations about how we can shop better and reuse more.
